The Bike Route
Starting in Mayen you can almost let your bike roll across the landscape of the East Eifel region – in the background the volcanic elevations provide the character setting. The particular section leading through the nature reserve of the Thürer Meadows is especially charming. Halfway en route you will reach the villages of the Pellenz area, and then you will go through the idyllic valley of the small river Nette to the river Rhine. Here the volcanopark bike path merges into the river Rhine bike path. From there you will cycle to Andernach, the destination of the tour. The Rauschermühle information centre in Plaidt, the Roman mine of Meurin near Kretz, the Lava Dome with the Lava Cellar in Mendig and the information center Terra Vulkania with the mining claim of Mayen are four places which are connected with four small loops.
